MEC for education officially opens newly upgraded Rita Primary School

Limpopo MEC for Education Polly Boshielo officially opened the newly constructed building at Rita Primary School in Greater Tzaneen Municipality.

While handing over the project, the MEC reminded the school principal and the community to take care of the new facility. She also encouraged learners to work hard because they now have a decent school.

“Where you come from does not determine where you are going”. She said. She gave motivational examples of learners who made it in life against difficult circumstances because of their determination.

The MEC emphasized that parents should take care of their children. “Many children are depressed and some even commit suicide because of the violence and rape that they are faced with at home”. Said the MEC.

The new building comprises 10 classrooms, a medium administration block, a nutrition center, a 20-seat enviro-loo toilets, and a guardhouse. The external work includes fencing, paving, a borehole, 10 000 litre water tank, and a water treatment plant.

The scope of work for the project incorporated the demolishing of five classrooms, renovation of 10 classrooms, and 8 seats enviro-loo toilet blocks.

The ceremony was attended by Mopani West District Director of Education Philippine Modika, circuit managers, Greater Tzaneen Municipality Councillors, and representatives of traditional authorities.
