PREMIER SELLO MOLOTO EXPRESSES DEEP CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF LIMPOPO SABC SENIOR JOURNALIST MANKOPANE JOSEPH NGOAKO

Limpopo Premier Sello Moloto has expressed deep condolences on the passing of Limpopo SABC senior journalist Mr. Mankopane Joseph Ngoako who passed away early on Sunday morning.

Mr. Ngoako or “Mr. Mighty” as he was popularly known in Limpopo, was one of the longest serving veteran journalists in the country.

Having started his career as a news reporter in the early 80’s in the then Radio Bantu and later Radio Lebowa, Mr. Ngoako was undoubtedly a pathfinder in his field. [read more]

FIRST HUMAN SETTLEMENT TO ENHANCE CULTURAL INTEGRATION

Dresses in Indian regalia, a boy and a girl showcased their superb Indian dances at the sod turning ceremony for Limpopo's first human integrated settlement at Bendor Extension 100. The function was held on 19 April 2008.

The Department of Local Government and Housing (DLGH) is pursuing the Integrated and Sustainable Human Settlement programme as a way of redressing imbalances caused by the apartheid spatial development patterns.

The Bendor extension 100 project introduces a new era where the rich and the poor will live side by side in the history of Polokwane. [read more]
 

 

LIMPOPO GOVERNMENT PREPARES TO TACKLE FOOD PRICES

The establishment of agri-entrepreneurs and consumer cooperatives is one of the proposed viable measures the provincial government will establish in order to help minimise the effects of sky-rocketing food prices.

This was revealed at a routine meeting of the Limpopo Executive Council (Exco) held on April 2008 in Polokwane. This was the first meeting of the Executive Council in the new financial year 2008/09.

The provincial government is required to put in place as it joins the rest of the country in fighting this scourge of unaffordable basic necessities - food included. In this regard, the provincial Department of Agriculture presented a draft Integrated Food Security Strategy for the province. [read more]
 

LEARNERSHIP PROGRAMMES BENEFIT YOUNG PEOPLE

In line with the Provincial Human Capital Investment Strategy, various departments of government in Limpopo have ensured that bursaries, learnership and internship programmes make an impact in so far as empowering unemployed graduates in the province.

Interestingly, this year alone the provincial government has given no less than 1 364 learners’ bursaries to further their studies in various institutions of higher learning.

These areas include those identified as rare skills in the province such as Engineering, Maths, Science, Technology, Town planning, financial management, etc. [read more]
 

LIMPOPO FORGES REGIONAL ECONOMIC TIES

In line with Limpopo’s strategic objective, as enshrined in the Provincial Growth and Development Strategy (PGDS), Trade and Investment Limpopo (TIL) will host a business delegation from the Kingdom of Swaziland from today, 6 May 2008, to Saturday, 10 May 2008. The delegation led by TIL’s counterpart, the Swaziland Investment Promotion Authority (SIPA), will include a number of prominent business leaders who will explore investment opportunities with their counterpart in Limpopo.

Also to be included in the delegation will be Honourable Collins Chabane, MEC for Limpopo’s Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, and his Swaziland’s counterpart, His Excellency Mr Lutfo Dlamini, Minister for Enterprises and Employment in Swaziland. The two political principals will witness the signing ceremony between TIL and SIPA.
