ZUMA TACKLES SA 2010 SCEPTICISM

President Jacob Zuma has dispelled
misconceptions about South Africa not being
in a position to host a successful 2010 FIFA
World Cup and assured Britons that South
Africa has stringent safety and security
measures in place for the tournament.
Zuma, who is on a state visit to the
United Kingdom, announced that part of the
plan involves the deployment of 41 000
police officers during the football
spectacle.

ZUMA KICKS OFF UK VISIT
03 March 2010
President Jacob Zuma today kicks off his
first state visit to the United Kingdom
where he will meet Queen Elizabeth II and
hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister
Gordon Brown.
The president, who arrived in the UK with
first lady Tobeka Madiba-Zuma on Tuesday,
will begin his day with a ceremonial welcome
on the Horse Guards Parade. He will be
formally greeted by Queen Elizabeth II and
the Duke of Edinburgh, and will review a
Guard of Honour.

NERSA ANNOUNCES POWER PRICE HIKES
24 February 2010
National Energy Regulator of SA (Nersa) has
announced that electricity tariffs will go
up by 24.8 percent, 25.8 percent and 25.9
percent over the next three years.
"This will result in percentage price
increase of 24.8 percent on average standard
tariff from 1 April 2010 followed by another
average increase of 25.8 percent from April
2011 and 25.9 in April 2012," Nersa
Chairwoman Cecilia Khuzwayo said on
Wednesday.

Development is seeking the services of
qualified health practitioners and social
workers.
Departmental spokesperson, Selby Makgotho
told BuaNews that preference will be given
to suitably qualified candidates
irrespective of where they come from.

WATER FOR 1 MILLION LIMPOPO HOUSEHOLDS

is planning to provide more than one million households
with water in the 2010/2011 financial year.

Limpopo Executive Council held its first
lekgotla of the year on the 04 – 05 of
February 2010 in Polokwane. Lekgotla was
attended by the Premier, MECs, Executive
Mayors of District Municipalities, HODs,
District Municipal Managers, CEOs of
Parastatals, representatives of national
departments and other senior government
officials.
Underpinning this lekgotla was the
evaluation and assessment of the performance
of the provincial government since 2009
nationwide democratic elections, the
identification of challenges faced by the
government in carrying out its electoral
mandate and, above all, the development of
the programme of action, POA, of the
provincial government for the next financial
year, 2008/09.

CELEBRATES HIS BIRTHDAY IN GIYANI,
NWADZEKUDZEKU VILLAGE

The
premier of Limpopo Cassel Mathale
together with the first lady Mokgadi
Mathale will this weekend celebrate
his birthday with children in the
Giyani area. The premier turned 49
two weeks ago on the 23rd of
January, a day which he spent
opening the brand new and world
class Peter Mokaba stadium.
Premier Mathale will begin his day
by handing over a computer lab and
classrooms at the Nkami High School
in Giyani in the Nwadzekudzeku
Village. The computers where donated
by Webcom Technologies Pty Ltd.

Switzerland to attend the 40th
Annual Meeting of the World Economic
Forum (WEF) which kicks off today.
