Thaba Moshate Hotel to promote tourism and create more jobs

The newly built Thaba Moshate Hotel and Convention Resort will boost tourism and create more jobs for the locals. Premier of Limpopo, Stanley Mathabatha said this words at the officially opening of the newly built Peermount’s Thaba Moshate Hotel and Convention Resort in Tubatse at a gala event on the 23 April 2015.


“The provision of the hotel and conference facilities will promote tourism in this part of the Province and thereby to create more job opportunities. This will indeed go a long way towards improving the socio-economic development of the region and the Province”, said Premier Stanley Mathabatha.

During the construction phase, 400 people were employed and 180 sustainable job opportunities will be created during the operational phase of this facilities. The establishment operators made a commitment to spend one million rand on a capital project that will be identified in the Sekhukhune District during the first year of operation.

“While we appreciate the fact that gambling should be seen as an entertainment and leisure activity, we are also painfully aware of the fact that some of the punters become addicted to it and thereby create social problems for their families”, warned Premier.

Peermont CEO, Anthony Puttergill said the facility was built at a whooping cost of approximately R325-million and it offers an entertainment complex comprising of 150 slot machines, eight gaming tables, 82 rooms and contemporary select-services. “The three-star Hotel also has a conference centre, 160-seater restaurant, showbar, teenage entertainment area, child care facilities, pool terrace and boma”, he added.


Government has through Special Economic Zone (SEZ) identified Tubatse, Lephalale, Musina as growth points. Billions of rands of investment are already being poured into projects in this area and that of Musina.

The Premier was accompanied by President of CONTRALESA, Kgoshi Setlamorago Thobejane, Limpopo Gambling Board CEO, Serobi Maja, MEC for Economic Development, Environment & Tourism, Seaporo Sekoati. Also in attendance was Peermont CEO, Anthony Puttergill, Corporate Affairs & CSI Executive, Vusi Zwane, General Manager Cliffort Ngakane.
