Limpopo celebrates World Refugee Day

The Limpopo Provincial Government in partnership with UN Refugee Agency celebrated World Refugee Day in the Vhembe District. The event took place on the 20th of June 2015 at Thohoyandou Sports Ground.

In her address while representing Premier Stanley Mathabatha, the MEC responsible for Health, Phopi Ramathuba urged all South Africans to assist fellow Africans who are in South Africa as refugees. Ramathuba reaffirmed government's commitment to bettering the lives of all South Africans including refugees. She called on all South Africans to treat and see fellow Africans as part of us.

World Refugee Day is celebrated through the world to mark and remember various nations and human beings who have sought refugee in other countries due to various reasons like, economical, political, social and educational.

The day was marked with dances and songs as various refugees performed their traditional dances and played their music as a way to share cultural expertise.
