Limpopo hosts the Provincial Water and Sanitation Summit

The Limpopo Provincial Government held its Water and Sanitation Summit on Thursday the 09th of July 2015 at Karibu Leisure Resort in the Greater Tzaneen Municipality. The Summit was held under the theme “Water is life, Sanitation is dignity”. In attendance were stakeholders from the mining sector, the farming fraternity, academia, Water Users Associations, Traditional Leaders, non-governmental organisations, civil society organisations as well as the private sector deliberate on solutions to issues around this scares commodity and sanitation.
Limpopo Premier, Mr. Chupu Stanley Mathabatha officially opened the summit while Minister for the Department of Water and Sanitation Ms. Nomvula Mokonyane delivered a keynote address. “The convening of this summit breaths life to the commitment we have made during the State of the Province Address that we would spare neither strength nor effort until we have resolved the water challenges that we face as a province”, said Premier Stanley Mathabatha.
In its conclusion, the Summit resolved that all municipalities should comply with Infrastructure Planning and Project Management Cycle as determined by the DoRA. They further emphasised that all vacant Technical Services Managers and other critical technical posts should be filled before the end of November 2015.
