History to be made in Limpopo

For the first time in the history of Limpopo Sports, four International Boxing tittles will be defended under one roof in one night. These are the words of Matiti Ayanda of African Promoters during the media briefing at Jack Botes Hall, Polokwane on the 18 April 2016.
The promoters will join hands with the SABC Sport, Boxing South Africa, Polokwane Municipality and Limpopo Provincial Government to host the boxing match on the 29 April 2016. “We are celebrating the 22 years of Freedom and Democracy in style this year’’ said Matiti. The Boxing match will take place at Ngoako Ramatlhodi Sports Arena in Seshego outside Polokwane.
The purpose of this event is to take the Youth of Limpopo province off streets and drugs. “We know that there is a great talent in our Province and we want to bring back the love of boxing. We are also fighting crime because our youth and fans will be kept busy with this sporting code’’, said SABC General Manager Tshamano Makuya. She continues to say that the athletes just need support in order to make us proud as the province.
Athlete, Tsiko “Cruel Junior” Mulovhedzi is feeling excited to defend his title at home soil. He will be defending his IBO Welterweight World title against Mexican Jesus Gurrola. Gideon “Hardcore” Buthelezi will be defending his IBO Junior Bantamweight World title championship against the Argentinean Diego Luis Picherdo and The WBA Junior Lightweight title will be between our very own Malcom Klassen and the Mexican Leonilo Ruiz Miranda. WBO Junior Flyweight is our Bongani Silila and Namibian Japhet Uutoni. IBF Featherweight Africa is Prince Ndlovu and Sydney Maluleke. Norman Tshisikhawe will be defending his Limpopo provincial title against Tshifhiwa Munyai, Balangani Ndou and Tendani Munyai will fight for Junior Featherweight title.
The promoter concluded by calling the Nation to come celebrate freedom and democracy through this Box and Dine event. Tickets are available at computicket for R150 per person where the fans will be entertained by DJ Merlon and 2nd runner up of Idols Matema. “Boxing should be the best sporting code ever in this Province. These are our Baby Jack Matlala of our time and we are very proud of them. So come one, come all and support them”, Matiti concluded.
