Departmental Women’s Day a success

The Limpopo Department of Education Women in their colourful traditional attire celebrated Women’s day with the first female of Polokwane, the  Executive Mayor, Cllr Thembi Nkadimeng at Greenside Primary School on the 30 August 2016.

The celebration was to honour 20 000 women who participated in the 1956 nation march at Union Building in protest of pass laws (apartheid legislation that required people of colour to carry identity documentation to prove that they were allowed to enter a ‘white’s only’ area).Executive Mayor of Polokwane, Cllr Thembi Nkadimeng encouraged women to start businesses such as farming so that they can be their own bosses. “Let’s stop discriminating and undermining each other irrespective of ranks or status” she said. She edged that women must adopt a girl to raise so that they can leave women’s legacy by the time they pass on.

Women were enjoying in such a way that they ask Executive Mayor to do provincial Women’s day at a Stadium and they also advised each other to play a big role in the education of their children. Executive Mayor advised women to start activities that will keep their children away from streets to avoid teenage pregnancy and drugs abuses.

“The dignity of a women must remain privately restored and stop being retail shop’s prisoners by having a lot of accounts, “. she concluded while advising women to save their earnings.
