Officially handover of Multi-Media Centre at Fulufhelo Special School

The Department of Social Development in partnership with Limpopo MTN foundation donated Multi-Media Centre at Fulufhelo Special School at Thohoyandou Block G , The General Manager Mrs Kusile Mthunzi-Hairwadzi of MTN Foundation said the centre accommodates 20 learners and cost more than R 500 000.


The Local Mayor Vho-Mahosi thanked MTN on behalf of Vhembe Municipality and she said the Local Government have a duty to support and secure the equipment that have been donated to the school, by giving the school security guards and street lights. Limpopo MEC for Education Mr Ishmael kgetjepe made a commitment that the department will take care of the equipment and he also mentioned that the department is in process to upgrade special schools.

The Deputy Minister of Social Development Ms Hendritta Zulu said the Department of Social Development and MTN Foundation are in partnership to build Multi-Media Centres in schools, she also said that herself and the minister are working hard in improving lives of people living with disabilities and they are achieving this through the help of MTN Foundation. Hendritta Zulu said they give Multi-Media Centres not for social networking (Facebook and WhatsApp) but to enhance learners’ performance in computers and have special software of learners in special schools.

She also discouraged women who drink alcohol during pregnancy period because it affects kid’s health before they are born. They are born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS). Hendritta Zulu also said her massage to school and community is that they must look after the equipment and utilise it in a good way, she also mentioned that Tshilidzi Special School will receive three Multi-Media Centres very soon with the help of MTN Foundation.
