Limpopo Provincial Government prioritises good governance

Limpopo Provincial Government convened EXCO Lekgotla on the 16th and 17th February 2017 in Bela-Bela.


The Lekgotla came at the time that the provincial government is preparing for the State of the Province Address which outlines the progress made since the inception of the administration of the Premier, Mr Chupu Mathabatha.

The EXCO Lekgotla was attended by the all Members of the Executive Council, Executive Mayors, Director-General of Limpopo Provincial Government, Heads of Departments, and Heads of parastatals and Chairperson of the parastatals.

Government delegates were unequivocal on the issues of good governance and maladministration that undermines the confidence of the people in government.

“In this Lekgotla we have agreed that there is an urgency of stabilizing government. It is only a stable government which will have the necessary capacity to deliver on the 10 development priorities of the Limpopo Development Plan. These priorities include accelerating the delivery of infrastructure; poverty reduction and creation of jobs. All government departments, municipalities and public entities must improve on governance; this include the important issue of attaining Clean Audit Opinions”, Premier said

The province has developed and adopted a provincial Water Infrastructure Master Plan. The plan itself will help the province to define water service delivery agenda. The Department of Water and Sanitation will ensure that Lepelle Northern Water becomes a fully fledged Water Utility and expands its footprints to cover the Limpopo Province.

The Premier said the province support a resolution of ensuring that Polokwane Municipality becomes a Metropolitan Municipality within the next 20 years and the Office of the Premier,Co-GHSTA and Polokwane Municipality will develop a comprehensive strategy to ensure that this resolution becomes reality.
