Premier backs Baroka FC for PSL survival

By: Maano Nekhavambe

Premier Honourable Stanley Chupu Mathabatha has backed the Limpopo based team Baroka FC in their last quest to avoid the Premier Soccer League relegation when the 2016/17 season reaches its climax this coming weekend.

Rooted at the bottom of the ABSA Premiership log, trailing 15th placed Highlands Park by a single point, with only one match remaining, Baroka FC will take on Ajax Cape Town at the Athlone stadium in Cape Town tomorrow.

Anything less than a win for Bakgakga Ba Ga-Mphahlele would ensure an automatic relegation to the National First Division (NFD) league in their maiden season competing in the top flight campaign.

Addressing the players from their camp at the Miami lodge in Polokwane, the Premier extended his praises to the hard working players and also singled out the club captain Olaleng Shaku for his endless effort in every game they play.

Mathabatha also said that the players must show the same dedication as their skipper in order to play as a collective and continue raising the Limpopo flag up high.

“I want to congratulate the team in advance, because I know and believe that we’ll win our last game and avoid relegation. I have been watching Baroka in most games they have played.

“I know that if all of you can show the zeal, the eagerness and the passion of your captain (Shaku), you will win every game. Every game you play, he’s always commitment.

“And I want all of you to emulate his eagerness and passion and all things would work out perfectly. So go out there and make Limpopo proud.”

Kick-off for this clash is scheduled for 15:00.
