Baroka FC in pole position after a win

By: Maano Nekhavhambe

Limpopo Province based, Premier Soccer League (PSL), side Baroka FC now sits comfortably in a pole position to retain their Absa Premiership status for the upcoming 2017/18 season set to commence in August.

This follows their emphatic 2-1 win in a drama filled Limpopo derby clash over Black Leopards in the PSL/National First Division (NFD) relegation/promotion play-offs at the iconic Peter Mokaba stadium on Wednesday.

Sepana Letsoalo was on target for Bakgakga Ba Ga-Mphahlele on both occasions while Mziwokuthula Zimu grabbed a consolation goal for Lidoda Duvha in the closing stages of the match.

Three weeks ago, Honourable Premier Stanley Chupu Mathabatha together with the Sports, Arts and Culture MEC Mme Onicca Moloi backed Baroka to keep their PSL status in their visit to the club camp at the Miami Lodge hotel in Polokwane, and it looks certain that the Premier’s wish could be granted but the journey is not over yet as there are still two games left to play.

Baroka’s next play-off assignment will be against Stellenbosch FC at the Peter Mokaba on Saturday afternoon and kick-off is scheduled for 15:00.
