Updates on Saselemani stadium project at Malamulele

By: Maano Nekhavhambe

The construction of a sports stadium at Saselemani village outside Malamulele is approaching a climax with the expected completion set for mid-August 2017.

The project was established in March 2016 after the residents of Malamulele requested for a community stadium. The projected date for the official hand over of the 2000 capacity multi-purpose stadium is the end of September 2017.

The contractors responsible for this aspiring project are busy with the sub-soil drainage system which is going to facilitate the smooth flow of water from the football pitch to prevent flooding.

The stadium will be used for multi-sporting activities: it consists of two multi-purpose (Tennis and Basketball) courts flanked by back-to-back pavilions and an Olympic size swimming pool of 12,5m by 25m.

The LIM345 Local Municipality under the leadership of the Executive Mayor, Cllr Joyce Bila, saw it befitting to equip the facility with top-notch change rooms for sports participants. The Kiosk will be utilised by merchants and other small businesses during sporting events. The filtration pump station, irrigation pump station as well as the fire pump houses form part of the features supporting the new facility. The life guardhouse will be utilised by officers charged with the responsibility of making the stadium one of the safest sporting facilities.

The tickets will be sold at the main guard house built at the stadium entrance.
