MEC Polly Boshielo congratulates 2019 ABC Motsepe Choral Winners

The Limpopo Department of Education hosted 2019 Provincial ABC Motsepe South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod (SASCE) competition at Bolivia Lodge in Polokwane from 30 May to 2 June under the theme “Celebrating 25 years of our democracy”.


All 10 education districts across the province participated in the annual provincial competition in 23 categories championships from primary to secondary school choirs and soloists including special schools.

The adjudicators selected position 1 championships from each category to proceed to national to represent the province. 20 winning schools from 7 districts in the province will compete nationally from 25 - 28 June 2019 in Gauteng, Randburg at Rhema church.

MEC for Education Polly Boshielo was delighted to have attended the competition and she was deeply pleased with the performances. She wished all the choirs and soloists best of luck at the national competition. Furthermore, she gave a word of encouragement to learner’ soloists, choirs and conductors. “That is what we expect from our youth, to glitter like gold and participate in this school enrichment programme with excitement and sheer enthusiasm” indicated the MEC.

Moreover she went on to state that learners should be supported as the main aim of the department is to mature learners and help them to achieve a better future and fulfill their dreams. “As future leaders of our nation, we expect you to use choral music to promote unity in diversity, national reconciliation, positive values, social transformation and social cohesion amongst yourselves as school going youth and in your communities” concluded MEC Boshielo.
