Mathabatha and SACC took a swipe at political killings in Limpopo

By: Lucia Sefara

Limpopo Provincial Government hosted a joint Media briefing with the Limpopo branch of South African Council of Churches that was represented by Rev. Awedzani Nemaukwe, Rev. Parkson Mohlahla, Rev. Mautji Pataki and Rev. Mukondeleli Ramuloudi.

Prior to the Media briefing, Premier Chupu Mathabatha and the Council of Churches met in a meeting to discuss key issues such as how would Civil Society play its role in helping Government and Law enforcement agencies to root out these evil acts that continue to rear their ugly skulls in our communities. The meeting took a swipe at the meaningless killings of Community Leaders in Thulamela, Tubatse and Mogalakwena Municipalities.

During the Press briefing, Mathabatha spoke with a strong voice and said the meeting was openly concerned that behind these carefully planned killings there appear to be faceless figures with no regard for human life, a sacred gift that only God can give.

“We cannot tolerate a situation were by a tiny Minority of people that possesses guns are allowed to traumatise communities that generally embrace peace. We call on the community to rise against the hurdlers of these callous acts and voice their disdain.” Warned Mathabatha in a resilient voice.

South African Council of Churches, Revered Awedzani Nemaukwe said SACC believes that life is a sacred gift, no one has the power and authority to take it away, only God can do so at a time that He alone has ordained. Therefore we appealed to Christians to pray in their places of worship and soak the Province in affected areas in prayer. We believe when God’s people who are called by Him, can humble themselves, and call upon Him to heal our land, He will lead those in authority to lead SAPS Limpopo, Provincial Commissioner Nneke Jim Ledwaba, to bring the suspects to book.
