The Impact Catalyst Launched in Limpopo

Four gigantic organizations joined forces to create a platform to improve the living conditions of communities by partnering with Government and also combining their rich resources to make an impact on service delivery.


Anglo American, the CSIR, Exxaro and World Vision South Africa partnered with Limpopo Provincial Government through The Impact Catalyst initiative, with the aim to create a mechanisms that drives a large-scale of socio-economic development initiatives through public-private partnerships in all nine provinces in South Africa.

The first of its kind, Provincial Socio-Economic Development Platform was launched recently in Polokwane by Limpopo Premier Representative, MEC Thabo Mokone. The focus will be on improving the living conditions of communities across the Province.


During the launch, MEC Mokone commended Anglo-American, Exxaro, CSIR and World Vision South Africa, for this great initiative of The Impact Catalyst.


“Your commitment of partnering with government to establish inclusive, collaborative, cross-sectoral initiatives to achieve lasting socio-economic impact is highly appreciated.”


He highlighted that what makes this partnership even more unique is the fact that it is designed for the benefit of ordinary men and women of our Province. Furthermore the impact areas of this initiative include the growth and development of our Provincial economy, expanding access to quality health services, ensuring improved access to education, the social upliftment of our communities and the general improvement of service delivery.


Dr. Thulani Dlamini, CSIR CEO said they are extremely delighted to be part of this project because it speak to the heart of what the CSIR is about. What we are trying to accelerate change thru socio economic development.


Mr. Andile Sangqu, Executive Head of Anglo American South Africa thanked the province for agreeing to partner with them. One of our priorities it to look for opportunities to collaborate and form partnerships with other stakeholders to jointly identify and deliver long term sustainable social and economic development because out communities are central to the success of our business.


Mr Mxolisi Mgojo, Exxaro Resources CEO took time to appreciate the partnership. “It is a great pleasure to be part of a catalyst collaborative regional social and economic development to transform people’s lives for the better.” Mgojo said in Lephalale they have already partnered with the Municipality and Limpopo Roads Agency to improve roads to the value of 350M.
