UNIVEN Vice-Chancellor confers eleven PHD’s

The University of Venda (UNIVEN) Vice-Chancellor and Rector, Professor Peter Mbati confers eleven doctorate degrees on the 19th September 2014. As the professor indicated, this was  the first time the University confers this number of PhD’s in one graduation ceremony and it is a sign of hard work.

 


One of the graduates during the ceremony was Dr Naledzani  Rasila, Senior Manager for Corporate Branding and Marketing.  Rasila received his Doctor of Philosophy in Rural Development The title of his thesis is entitled Communication for Effective Developmental Local Government.  Rasila’s study assisted in the establishment of new Communication Model published in international journals.


Dr Rasila obtained Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree at the University of South Africa in1999, BA Honours (2003) and Masters degrees(2007)  at the University of Stellenbosch.


He taught at Kharivha, Dolidoli and Matshena schools from 1984 until 1991. In 1992 he worked at the Point Newspaper as the owner and the Journalist. In 1994 he worked at Caxton Papers, West Rand, Roodepoort Record as Journalist.  From 1995 until 1998 he worked as an editor of Dobsonville/Kagiso Express. In 1998 he worked at Alex Times Newspaper until he was appointed at the Gauteng Department of Housing as  Assistant Director of Communication.


Dr Rasila joined the Office of the Premier, Limpopo Province as Manager in the Provincial Communication Services in 2002. He was then appointed to the position of a Senior Manager, Corporate Branding and Marking to date.


Dr Rasila is currently the chairperson of the Provincial Language Committee (PLC). He is also chairing the PRISA-Limpopo chapter and also a member of the Provincial Communication Core-Team. His main interest is in strategising for communication where he helps in development of communication strategies for government events.
