Premier hails the SABC initiative

The South African Broadcasting Corporations (SABC) in partnership with the Office of the Premier and Media, Information and Communication Technology (MICT) SETA launched a skills development programme learnership on Tuesday 7 October 2014.


Premier Stanley Chupu Mathabatha has praised the (SABC) following their inspiring initiative of awarding a group of 25 Capricorn FET learners with a platform to acquire their broadcasting skills.

The learnership program aims to grow the economy of the country while developing skills for the young people. Mathabatha sees the opportunity for the Limpopo youth as a dream come true. The premier also thanked the SABC for awarding a local soapie, Skeem Sam, with an 8pm time slot after the country’s number one soapie Generations went off-air recently.

Speaking on behalf of the public broadcaster Chief Operating Officer (COO), Hlaudi Motsoeneng, Frans Matlala said the SABC intend to build studios in all provinces across the country. Local short stories, documentaries and movies will be aired two times a week going forward.

One of the students, Sipho Moholo, said they have now acquired skills and the enterprenual part of TV and filming and they are now skilled in terms of operating cameras and write story scripts.
