Limpopo reviews its crime strategy

Limpopo Provincial Government held a two day Safety and Security Summit in Polokwane on 13 November 2014. The main purpose of the Summit was to review the Provincial Crime Prevention Strategy which was adopted in 2005/6 financial year.

The summit was held under the theme which says “A safe and secure Limpopo, Moving towards vision 2030”and was attended by 600 delegates hailing from Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO’s), Community Policing Forums, Community Safety Forum( CSF), Youth, South African Police Services (SAPS) and other State Security Stakeholders.

Premier Chupu Stanley Mathabatha said that the summit was about giving birth to new strategies and tactics in the fight against crime and criminal elements in our communities. He said that Communities should have confidence in the criminal justice system to effectively apprehend and prosecute criminals who violate individual and community safety.

He further advised delegates to encourage communities  to  participate in already established Street Committee Forums, Safer School Campaigns and Community Policing Forums.
