Official Opening of the Multi-Drug Resistant Unit

In Limpopo, the Multi-Drug Resistant Tuberculosis Unit started as an outpatient
clinic opened at Jane Furse Hospital in 1997 by Dr John Millard. This Clinic
moved to Polokwane Hospital in October 1997. By then all 2nd line
anti-tuberculosis drugs were withdrawn from hospitals and clinics in the state
sector. The Province decided to centralize the care of MDR TB patients at
Polokwane hospital.
The MEC for Health and Social Development Mr. Seaparo C. Sekoati will deliver a
keynote address at the F.H Odendaal Hospital (South), Waterberg District,
Modimolle Municipality.
