Breastfeeding Celebration Day

The MEC of Department of Health and Social Development in Limpopo, Honourable Seaparo Sekoati invites all media people to the Breastfeeding Celebration Day. This year’s theme aims to get more people understand the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and to promote and protect breastfeeding by eliminating advertising and other harmful marketing practices for infant feeding products and to think of ways to enable mothers to exclusively breastfeed their babies for six months and continued breastfeeding up to two years of age.

Breastfeeding is an unequalled way of providing ideal food for the healthy growth and development of infants. It provides biological and emotional basis for the healthy child development. It becomes essential to protect and promote breastfeeding and to protect pregnant women and lactating mothers from any influence that could disrupt it.

Remember breastfeeding knowledge is acquired not inherited!
