Head of Department, Dr. Jabulile Dlamini
In 1982 she obtained a degree in MBchB with the Medical University of South
Africa (MEDUNSA), in 1995 she obtained a Diploma In Health Service Management
(DHSM) with the University of Witwatersrand (WITS), in 2000 she got a
certificate in Public Management with the University of the North (now
University of Limpopo).
As if that was not enough, in 2002 she did a short course in Human Resource
Management with the University of South Africa, in 2005 she studied with the
University of Kwazulu Natal and did a course in Health Facility Planning, in
2005 again she did a course in Internal Health Leadership with Cambridge
University. Ever since she joined the department in 1984 as a Clinician
(practicing doctor) at Groothoek Hospital she never looked back. In 1993 the
hospital recognized here outstanding hard work and she was appointed Acting
Medical Superintendent, hardly two years down the line (1995) she was the
Director: Hospital services.
Because of her gratitude and dedication to her work Dlamini was appointed
General Manager: District Hospital Services: DoHSD Limpopo in 2003 and now
(June) she is the new Head of Department of Health and Social Development. Dr.
Dlamini is a member of the National Professional Management Committee,
Sub-Committee on medical internship training of the HPCSA, National Forensic
Pathology Services, National Hospital Coordinating Committee (NHCC), National
Committee that studied the French and British health system and she served on
the National committee which developed the Hospital Strategy Program under the
Hospital strategy Project. She is married and blessed with four children
