{"id":7927,"date":"2025-05-27T13:25:03","date_gmt":"2025-05-27T13:25:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.limpopo.gov.za\/?p=7927"},"modified":"2025-05-28T13:25:25","modified_gmt":"2025-05-28T13:25:25","slug":"africa-day-international-cooperation-between-afican-countries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.limpopo.gov.za\/?p=7927","title":{"rendered":"Africa Day: International Cooperation between Afican Countries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Joining the African Continent in commemorating Africa Day, the Limpopo  provincial government led by  Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba gathered at Thohoyandou Town Hall in the Thulamela Municipality on the 25 May under the theme \u201c Building Africa We want Through Solidarity, Equity and Sustainability\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>This important African calendar month offers an opportunity to raise international cooperation between African countries and embraces different cultural diversity. <\/p>\n<p>The event started off with  colorful parade of traditional dances parading  African countries  flag in the streets of  Thohoyandou.<br \/>\nDelivering her keynote address, Dr Ramathuba highlighted that Limpopo is a gateway to Africa, playing a strategic role in promoting regional economic integration in the SADC region, and serves as a critical hub for trade, investment and continental cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLimpopo contributes  to African  transformation through its cultural richness and unity in diversity. This is a living testimony that unity in diversity is not only possible, but it is beautiful  and powerful\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>Limpopo has good inter-African trade  relations with Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho and Zimbabwe.  Currently the Limpopo province exports potatoes  to Mozambique and trade red meat with Namibia.<\/p>\n<p>Africa Day is a reminder of how African countries emerged from colonialism and slavey before African Union  (AU) was established in 1963, to focus on African needs and benefits by having more African countries  to progress into democratic states. <\/p>\n<p>Today, Africa day translates to African countries being part of the G20 which is an international forum for African leaders to participate in the world\u2019s largest economic to discuss global economic issues which Africa can proudly participate and benefit from. <\/p>\n<p>The celebration of Africa Day is testament  to celebrate unity and cultural diversity. The celebration included different tribes in Limpopo giving audience sterling performances of how the vha Venda, Va Tsonga and Bapedi amongst others embrace their diverse culture and pride in African heritage.
