{"id":9363,"date":"2026-07-23T15:15:26","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T15:15:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.limpopo.gov.za\/?p=9363"},"modified":"2026-07-23T15:18:42","modified_gmt":"2026-07-23T15:18:42","slug":"premier-ramathuba-officiated-the-inauguration-of-thovhele-nelson-tshikonelo-mphaphuli","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.limpopo.gov.za\/?p=9363","title":{"rendered":"Premier Ramathuba officiated the Inauguration of Thovhele Nelson Tshikonelo Mphaphuli"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Limpopo Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba has officiated the inauguration of Vho-Thovhele Tshimangadzo Nelton Tshikonelo-Mphaphuli, honoring the enduring legacy of the Tshikonelo-Ma\u1e13adzhe-Mphaphuli Royal House on Saturday, 18 July 2026 at Tshikonelo Primary School in the Vhembe District. <\/p>\n<p>Government recognizes the indispensable role that traditional leaders continue to play in strengthening social cohesion, promoting peace and advancing development in our rural communities since traditional leadership remains a vital institution that connects government with communities and ensures development responds to the needs and aspirations of the people.<\/p>\n<p>Ha-Tshikonelo village is the home of one of the royal councils that rule over 13 villages in one of Limpopo&#8217;s most respected traditional dynasties, whose story is woven into the rich cultural heritage in the province.<\/p>\n<p>(Vho-Thovhele) Tshikonelo-Mphaphuli was born into a family deeply rooted in traditional leadership. From an early age, he was nurtured in the values of humility, discipline, integrity and service. Leadership was never simply a title awaiting him; it was a responsibility for which he was prepared throughout his life.<\/p>\n<p>He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree [LLB] and as a practicing legal professional, he brings valuable knowledge and expertise to the throne which modern traditional leadership require leaders who embrace both indigenous wisdom and contemporary governance.<\/p>\n<p>The day was characterized by Vha-Venda traditional garments, Malende and Tshikona dance with notable guests comprising of Minister in the Presidency Ms. Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, MECs and Mayors being amongst the dignitaries who graced the occasion.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Ramathuba paid tribute to past leaders who defended their land and people whose bravery preserved the customs and dignity of the Mphaphuli Dynasty.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday we honor the great leaders of Tshikonelo Madadzhe Mphaphuli Royal family, from Thovhele Stephanus Tshikonelo Madadzhe, Thovhele Nngwedzeni Alfred Madadzhe Mphaphuli who stood like unshakable mountains in defence of their people and their land. Their bravery protected these valleys, rivers and communities from those who sought to destroy them. Through their wisdom and courage, they preserved the customs, traditions and dignity of the Mphaphuli Dynasty for future generations.\u201d Dr. Ramathuba praised <\/p>\n<p>Premier Ramathuba further expressed that the inauguration of Vho-Thovhele Tshikonelo- Mphaphuli was indeed a celebration of their clan identity, customs and the enduring institution of traditional leadership which serves as a reminder that while generations may change, the values that binds them together like respect, unity, courage and service remains constant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe legacy we celebrate today flows from the distinguished bloodline of the Singo clan, renowned throughout history for its strength and resilience. We remember the great ancestor whose praises proclaim, (&#8220;Gole u phaphula maswina&#8221;) the one who tore apart his enemies. It is from this remarkable history that the name Mphaphuli emerged, becoming a symbol of courage, unity and visionary leadership. Today, that rich legacy continues through a new generation.\u201d Dr. Ramathuba emphasized <\/p>\n<p>Dr. Ramathuba has urged Vho-Thovhele Tshikonelo-Mphaphuli to provide adequate service to his people regardless of their age and social standing in society and not permit favouritism to divide your people. <\/p>\n<p>Addressing a gathering of traditional leaders, councilors, community members and youth, newly installed traditional leader, Vho-Thovhele Tshikonelo-Mphaphuli, described his inauguration as a celebration of culture, continuity and renewed purpose. <\/p>\n<p>He vowed to lead with humility, wisdom and fairness, reminding audiences that traditional leadership carries not only authority but also profound responsibility to protect customs, care for communal land and serve all households without discrimination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy role is to listen, mediate and lead with wisdom.
