500 Xikundu families receives food donation

Xikundu – Local families arrived early on Wednesday, 09 March 2022 at the Xikundu Traditional Council Offices to receive their food parcels as part of the covid-19 social relief. This is a commitment made by Deputy President, David Mabuza during his visit in Limpopo Province on 1st December 2021.

The donation of food parcels to 500 families in Xikundu was implemented by South African National Aids Council (SANAC); which is chaired by the Deputy President and Gift of the Givers.

SANAC Executive Manager, Rev Zwo Nevhuthalu reminded the community on how this donation was made possible. “The Deputy President called on all in the Aids Council and others sectors if anyone can make any small donation that is needed by our communities they should do likewise.In Lephalale a hospital was donated by private sector to government. On the 1st December 2021, we have ask Gift of the Givers for a partnership in order to help our communities here in Xikundu”, said Rev Nevhuthalu.

Kokwani Catherine Mathebula received her food parcel and appreciates the gesture. “I am pleased for having received this food, it will help me and my kids”, said Kokwani Mathebula.

Gift of the Givers, Project Manager, and Tapiwa Marima delivering his message said: “We truly appreciate you Hosi, for having welcomed us in your home. We know you play a vital role not only in uplifting your community but also in fighting HIV/Aids in South Africa and across the SADC nation. When we come together with all stakeholders everything is possible”.

Speaking of behalf of Hosi Maluleke, Prince Richard Maluleke said that last year when they started this project with the Deputy President, they gave some community members’ food parcels and run short. According to him Prince Maluleka thought this project will be an empty incomplete project, but there was regular contacts with Rev Nevhuthalu.

“We as traditional council appreciate this on behalf of families of Xikundu.We are very lucky to receive this for free of charge. We thank all stakeholders”, concluded Prince Richard Maluleke, Chairperson of Royal House.
