Members of Executive Council

Overview

The Executive Council has both the executive functions and the legislative functions. It has to make all major policy decisions. In this capacity the Executive Council:

Sets government policy and determines the government priorities,
Reviews budget proposals including expenditures and revenues as well as approval of appropriations
Approves proposals for new legislation, amendments to existing legislation, and repeal of legislation
Monitors safety and security in the province
Determines the terms of reference for and appoints individuals to commissions of inquiry and recommends or appoints individuals to other bodies it has the authority to create or has been invited to recommend nominees for
Monitors the organization of the government.
Initiates and reviews programs
Monitors the implementation of poverty eradication programs and other major activities
Provides leadership and support in democratizing the province and the country
