Limpopo Premier officially opens Ratsoma Shopping Complex

Limpopo Premier Stanley Chupu Mathabatha has officially opened the Ratsoma Shopping Complex at Magnetheights Ga-Mogashoa, Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality, on Thursday 31 March 2022.

The Shopping complex which consists of nine stores, including one banking institution, was built by Ratsoma Family Trust in partnership with Absa and it is duly recorded as one of the key socio-economic intervention projects in Limpopo.

In rural communities, constructions of shopping complexes play pivotal roles such as increasing employment rates, economic growth mainly as a result of sales, community stabilizations as well as the benefits of construction related expenditures and increased tax revenues.

The Ratsoma Shopping Complex will afford Shoppers (Residents of Magnetheights) with a great variety of stores and shopping opportunities around their own township, and they will no longer travel 20 kilometers to Jane Furse Mall.

Mathabatha said the opening of Ratsoma Shopping Complex is in direct response to one of the cardinal points of the Limpopo Development Plan, which deals with township and rural economy.

“We’re looking at this milestone achievement as a positive response to the provincial economic recovery plan, following the devastation caused by corona virus to our lives and livelihoods. We’re pleased that local people benefited by being employed during construction of this project and from today moving forward, more locals will benefit in different forms.” Said Mathabatha

Meanwhile, one of the elated residents of Magnetheights was a 34-year-old Miss Khomotso Mokone. She hinted that she could not wait for the complex to be officially opened in order to save on taxi fares to Jane Furse Mall for grocery shopping.

“I’m so excited because we finally have our own Shopping Complex. It is good for us who cannot afford taxi fares on daily bases to go to Jane Furse. Now we can walk to the shopping complex and it will also afford us employment opportunities’ as the youth. We’re really grateful to the Ratsoma family and the Limpopo Provincial Government,” Said Mokone
