One Plan One IDP

The Waterberg District which comprises of 30 informal settlements and 5 local municipalities concluded its One Plan one Integrated Development Plan (IDP) consultation session which was attended by various departments in partnership with private sectors to discuss implementation of the plan.

The session is meant to minimaxes and do away with the traditional way of adopting municipal Integrated Development Plan which operates in silo without engaging relevant stakeholders to implement their wishes.

The district main economic sectors relies on mining, tourism and agriculture, however it faces water and waste management challenges which makes it very difficult to carry on with activities meant to enrich the province, but the challenges will be history with the One Plan implementation.

The One Plan model focuses on a long term planning of projects identified for the district with intentions of attracting investors and creating more job opportunities for the local communities with coordination from three spheres of government and private partnership.

The one plan one IDP is informed by the District Development Model (DDM) which was launched in 2019 after President Ramaphosa initiation during his State of The Nation Address (SONA) to improve impact of service delivery in the country.

Director General of the province Mr Nape Nchabeleng thanked private sectors for showing the economic will in improving government initiatives. “mining is one of the biggest activities in the province and without your companies investment in the district, we will not be able to move forward”.

On Friday, the district revealed the first zero emission mining truck which is said to be the largest world hydrogen powered truck.

The one plan one IDP will yield fruits for many communities and a better implementation of the district project approved by the municipal council and relevant departments.
