R10 Million NYDA Fund Activated

The provincial government and National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) activated R10 million funding activities in Sekhukhune yesterday. The fund is aimed to empower youth who have business ideas, and those who are already in business at a small and medium scale. The fund will be divided to those qualifying in all four districts in the province, this is aligned to the implementation of Limpopo Development Strategy with the aim of growing positively the economy and creating jobs.

Youth Director in the Office of The Premier (OTP), Mpho Sebola encouraged youth to take advantage of this opportunity and apply for the Funding in numbers. Sebola said he is ready to receive and process applications.

“I will be glad if I can receive applications from youth in rural areas, this can be an opporturnity to develop your area and that of your peers by creating jobs. If I get an application that will be missing a document or if there will be something that have to be corrected, I will not disqualify that application instead, I will send an email to the applicant or call them to correct the mistakes so that we can fund as many youths.” said Sebola.

The applications will open from 15th February 2023 and can be accessed on OTP website portal www.limpopo.gov.za and those who do not have access to internet, can call Mr Sebola on 082 613 1143 or they can visit any NYDA offices and local municipalities to be assisted.

Alpheus Mosona, NYDA Sekhukhune District Coordinator encouraged youth of Sekhukhune to apply in many numbers.

“We fund every type of businesses, except for liquor and tobacco businesses, I will be disappointed if we will not have any youth from the Sekhukhune funded because they did not apply, the office is always ready to help, I am also ready to help” said Mosona.

There is not yet a specific maximum amount to be allocated to each business, but in the amount, which will be allocated to each business, the amount of R150 000.00 should be set aside for the employees salaries which those employees are expected to be youth.

Mosona indicated that if the entrepreneur has been funded before by the NYDA, they are not automatically excluded but should seek further information from their local NYDA offices to avoid missing out on this life changing funding opportunity.

The NYDA will also assist youth to register their companies. The processing of the applications will take 31 working days. The activation activities awareness will be held in all districts with Tzaneen be the next at Old fire hall at 09:00 tomorrow (09th February 2023).

The requirements are age between 18 to 35, Limpopo province Resident, any Gender, people with disability are encouraged to apply, Registered Company operating or not Operating, SARS certificate, Business Bank Account.
