Shebe Shxt steals the Mapungubwe Festival Show
The 19th edition of the Mapungubwe Arts festival celebrates the arts industry in the Limpopo province, by acknowledging the creative cultural industry craft. This year’s festival was not short of various platform which allowed audience to enjoy comedy and theater nights, where local talent was at the center of magnificent performance.
During the media launch held on the 5th of December in Polokwane, MEC for Sports, Arts and Culture Nakedi Kekana promised unity and peaceful activities that people attending will enjoy.
The events preceding the main festival included the week long cultural parade and exhibitions activities across the districts from Capricorn to Mopani to showcase the rich cultural diversity of the province.
Audience was blown away by a stage performance by Beyond Disability drama group that gave a sterling performance of how people with disability are capable of world class performance that sends a message about the Gender Based Violence portrayal as an everyday struggle of those with disability.
The main event held on Saturday the 16 to 17th December at Polokwane cricket club cemented the commitment of South Africans and Limpopo people to support local artists. Hundreds of music lovers braved the heavy rain weather and cold condition to enjoy the festival.
This year’s edition line up performance was made up of 100% artists from Limpopo giving a bigger platform stage to promote and showcase their craft.
Among artists that performed included big South African brands such as Master KG, DR Thomas Chauke, Papa Penny Penny and King Monada.
The self-made hustler and performer through social media platform Shebe Shxt and Sekomota known as Ngwana Sesi were among the upcoming artist that the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture in the province gave support to market their work to a bigger audience nationally and internationally using the Mapungubwe festival platform.
The crowd went crazy when the TIK TOK most viewed performer Shebe Shxt entertained the crowd and asking for more performance in the early hours of Sunday.
Local DJs from Venda, Giyani to Polokwane were not left behind to entertain the crowds in between the performances.
They were no reported criminal activities throughout the week which collaborate the MEC Kekana’s commitment to a safer space of the Mapungubwe festivities
