Premier Mathabatha monitors commitment implementation made during his birthday

As part of his social responsibility and ploughing back to the community, Premier Chupu Stanley Mathabatha has since 2024 made commitment to give back to the school that played a pivotal role for the caliber of a man, he turned out to be including being the number one citizen of the province.

Yesterday, the Premier visited Mafato Primary School in Motetema situated in Grobersdaal, to monitor progress of commitments he made earlier in January when he celebrated his birthday.

Initially, Mathabatha wanted to celebrate his birthday with the school but the good influence he has from the friends of Mathabatha, initiated more tangible things to be done for the school. The friends of Mathabatha are people that grew up together with him and shared childhood memories and adulthood support for more than 30 years.

The social responsibility framework by Mathabatha is ensuring that the community of Motetema where he grew up and calls home, benefits from him and his friends by empowering the school with necessary equipment to better learners’ performance and makes educators environment more conducive for working.

Commitments made includes buying new 32 laptops for the school library which 27 of them have been handed over to the school, a solar inventor, air conditioner and parking carports.
Welcoming the Mathabatha and friends, the school head principal Ms Stephina Peeha and educators could hide their excitement and gave praises to the premier for the social responsibility he commits upon him.

“ We had tablets allocated to grade 1s and 2s but they were not enough. What the Premier did for the school is unforgettable. Educators have been sharing one laptop to prepare for lessons but with these 27, our allocation will improve effective planning and allowing kids to use the rest for their school work. We are even in a better working environment because Motetema is a very hot place but since the aircons were installed in my office and staff room things are better” said Pheeha

Mathabatha said as his political career is coming to an end in few weeks, he needed to express his love he has for children and committing to a continuous relationship with the school that shaped his leadership character.

“This is not a charity but an act of hope and expression of love I have for the school and community, this is a commitment to equip future leaders, I have seen number of desks in classroom without a space for any flexible movement and when I asked, I was told that it is because the school does not have enough space to accommodate learners.

I commit to ensuring that two blocks of classrooms will be erected to make enough classrooms for these learners, I am going to have talks with the friends of Mathabatha and business people to assist. I further commit to delivering the remaining the 7 laptops, it might be even more than what is expected. Said Mathabatha

The solar system is up and running and this is significant as the electronic lessons during loadshedding blackout are not affected. Learners learning business continues without any disruption and leaners are able to do their research in the library using the newly bought laptops.
