The Provincial Government Communicators Forum
Communicators in all Limpopo government institutions gathered at Zebula Golf Estate in the Waterberg District from the 25th – 26th September 2024 to attend a two-day forum that tackled crucial topics to enhance communication strategies in the province.
The function of the session was to mainly recap on previous progress made in the last term, and further bring forth innovative government communication approaches for the 7th administration, which are all vital for effective governance.
Among the many presentations, Director for Corporate Communication in the Limpopo Office of the Premier, Mr. Dexter Mohale thoroughly emphasised on the Provincial Government Corporate Identity, and how essential it is for communicators to be cautiously attentive to the way they present government to the public eye, for it is an important element in organization management as it influences how people perceive government as a whole.
Corporate Identity is a symbol that can be as simple as a unique colour scheme, words written a certain way, or even an image that represents an organization. Thus, it is of paramount importance that government is represented in a way that ordinary citizens and the public can relate to, depend on, and hope in.
Moving with the technological times, Mr. Oscar Tshifure, the President of PRISA (Public Relations Institute of South Africa) highlighted the relevance of professional bodies in the digital era. He encouraged communicators to be innovative and adapt to the digital changes and use new-age media to their advantage to accelerate a successful management in the Limpopo Province.
To sum it up, the Chief Director for Communication Services in the office, Mr. Ndavhe Ramakuela urged all communicators present to continue dispersing an effective flow of information between government and its internal and external public, facilitate participation from society, prioritise effective service delivery, and build trust and accountability in government.
