Limpopo Investment Conference raises more than R120 Billion in pledges
The much anticipated two-day investment conference that ignited an economic spark in Polokwane from the 07th – 08th November 2024, aimed to beckon potential investors to forge strategic partnerships that will shape the economic future of the province.
The pivotal gathering also unlocked new economic plans that will create jobs and attract foreign investments. Thus, when opening the first day of the convention, Premier, Dr. Phophi Ramathuba pressed:
“The 4th edition of the Limpopo Investment Conference has become a key platform for international engagement, so let us leverage on the potential of this province and deliver an inclusive economy to our people.”
On the same breath, Minister of Trade Industry & Competition, Mr. Parks Tau detailed how Limpopo has made remarkable infrastructural strides in stimulating economic growth. Therefore, it is a collaborative effort to continue cultivating an environment that instils business confidence.
Moreover, panelists of industry professionals with premium expertise took centre stage to unpack several investment opportunities in Limpopo. They focused on key sectors which are; agriculture & agro-processing, infrastructure & logistics, automotive Industry, and tourism.
This also includes mining & mineral beneficiation, Fetakgomo-Tubatse industrial park, green energy, and the MMSEZ (Musina-Makhado Special Economic Zone). They hope these sectors will serve as big contributors of employment creation, connect Limpopo to the global market, fuel innovation hubs, and accelerate rural development.
Day two was nothing short of amazing, as LEDET MEC, Mr. Tshitereke Matibe led investment pledges wherein business men and women selflessly invested R120 329 billion towards the betterment of the province.
Premier Ramathuba welcomed this leap of faith and acknowledged the risks and rewards of the commitment. She said: “This commitment from the business sector shows the strong support for the province’s 7th administration and its focus on sustainable development and economic resilience.”
“Rest assured that the implementation of projects funded by these pledges will commence from November 2024 and continue through to October 2025,” added the Premier.
Indeed, Limpopo’s growth is not just a possibility, but an inevitability, one that cannot be avoided nor stopped! PM
