Groundbreaking Ceremony Marks New Era for Renewable Energy and Economic Growth in Limpopo
On Thursday morning, the 14th of November 2024, Samancor Tubatse Ferrochrome in partnership with the Limpopo Provincial Government, officially broke ground at Steelport, Sekhukhune District for a groundbreaking sod-turning ceremony of the Sinosteel Photovoltaic Project.
This pioneering initiative proclaims a significant milestone in the province’s transition to renewable energy and economic advancement. It also targets to contribute to South Africa’s renewable energy by enhancing energy security and reducing costs, stimulating local economic growth and job creation, attracting foreign investment, and boosting business confidence.
Thus, Samancor CEO, Mr. Desmond McManus expressed: “Today, we embark on a transformative journey, harnessing renewable energy to power Limpopo’s economy. This project demonstrates our commitment to sustainable development and job creation for locals.”
Premier of the province, Dr. Phophi Ramathuba welcomed the noble initiative that will address the need to access affordable and reliable green energy in the province.
“This groundbreaking ceremony marks a significant step towards achieving Limpopo’s economic growth and development goals. We welcome Sinosteel’s investment and look forward to a fruitful partnership,” cheered Premier, Dr. Phophi Ramathuba.
Following the brave pleges made by investors at the Limpopo Investment Conference, Premier Ramathuba is delighted that this imperative project is taking place swiftly before Christmas as planned.
On the same breath, Chinese Ambassador to South Africa, Mr. Wu Peng detailed how Limpopo is a truck full of resources that should be utilised to not only improve the lives of locals, but be the blue ocean of industrialisation in the province.
