Team Limpopo to represent the province in North West

The Limpopo senior sports team is set to represent the province during the National Active Ageing Program Golden Games in Rustenburg, North West province. The team is made up of women and men between the ages of 55 and 70.

The farewell ceremony was held at the new Peter Mokaba stadium, Polokwane. The team will depart on the 17th of February and participate from 18th to 20th February 2025. Some of the golden games that the team will participate on incudes soccer, running, Brisk walking and many more.

Bidding farewell to the team, MEC for department of Sports, Arts and Culture Fumani Jerry Maseko praised the team for demonstrating that ageing cannot stop anyone from participating in healthy lifestyle activities, and encouraged Limpopo citizens to get inspired by taking part in sports to minimize inviting avoidable illnesses.

The team was given sporting apparel which included tracksuits, running shoes, tights, shirts and sports bags.

When addressing the golden boys and girls as they are affectionally known, Acting HOD for department of Sports, Arts and Culture Dr Martin Sehlapelo committed to continue supporting the older people’s games.

The team travelled with a fully flashed medical team which included two medical doctors, six professional nurses, two physiotherapists and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) .

The Limpopo Premier is set to welcome back the team upon their arrival from the national stage. The entire provincial administration wished participants well in representing Limpopo on a national platform (EC)
