Premier’s Inter-Governmental Forum examines Limpopo’s Financial State
On the morning of 12 March 2025, Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba embarked on a mission to engage with key principals from various Local and District Municipalities including Mayors, Chief Financial Officers, Deputy Director-Generals, and other Members of the Executive Council in her Intergovernmental Forum.
The main objective of the consultative session was to examine the financial status of the province. Additionally, it also unpacked Municipal Action Plans that dealt with the 2023/24 Audit Outcomes including financial statements that were accurate and compliant, as well as the province receiving clean audits.
However, when expressing her remarks, Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba did not fail to mention that: “When all districts receive a clean audit, then we can celebrate the clean audit of our province and maintain the faultless trajectory of those audits.”
The first citizen of Limpopo as often nicknamed, also emphasised the need for collaborative effort from all key role players to advance the financial health of the province. “We need to develop strategic and effective ways to improve the budget management of our municipalities to achieve an overall economically functioning province,” she said.
Ably, Premier also utilised the meeting to serve as a platform of developing financial strategies that will be implemented within this 7th administration while promoting intergovernmental relations between district and local municipalities in the province.
