Polokwane to host Carling Knockout Final

Limpopo Premier Dr. Phophi Ramathuba has welcomed the Premier Soccer League (PSL) decision to host the 2025/26 Carling Knockout Final in Polokwane.

The New Peter Mokaba stadium will host the eagerly anticipated title decider between high flying Orlando Pirates and Marumo Gallants on 06 December 2025.

“As the provincial government, we are delighted that the PSL has chosen the Peter Mokaba stadium to host the Carling Knockout Final between Orlando Pirates and Marumo Gallants on December 6, 2025. This announcement is a clear indication of the PSL’s confidence in our province’s ability to successfully host major sporting events. We are truly honored and excited to host the people from across the country to Polokwane.” Said Dr. Ramathuba

Premier Ramathuba has assured the PSL that Limpopo will deliver a vibrant atmosphere and a full capacity crowd on the day.

Heading to the final, the Buccaneers defeated Richards Bay 1-0 in the Semi-final clash played at the Moses Mabhida stadium on Saturday courtesy of Tshepang Moremi solitary strike while Gallants edged Lamontville Golden Arrows 4-2 on post-match penalties following a 2-2 stalemate at the King Zwelithini stadium in Durban.

The Carling Knockout final will see the city of Polokwane’s hospitality sector recording a surge in bookings around the two match-day date, street vendors and small businesspeople especially in e-hailing and other transportation industry will also receive major boosts to their businesses which is good for the economy of Limpopo Province.

The last time Peter Mokaba stadium hosted a final of the major tournament was back in December 2016 when Cape Town City defeated SuperSport United, now Siwelele FC, 2-1 in the same Carling Knockout competition under previously sponsored by Telkom Knockout (Telkom Knockout) respectively.

One of the Limpopo residents and a football fanatic Nyiko Sithole said “Finally we have a cup final in our hometown, and it is good for us supporters who always travel across the country to watch cup finals. Now we can only stress about getting match tickets without being concerned about booking accommodation and travelling costs. We are grateful to the Limpopo Provincial government for bidding to host this final and we look forward to host football lovers from outside the Limpopo boarders to Polokwane.”
Kickoff time for this clash is yet to be confirmed.
