Two Mobile Reservoirs for Tubatse Local Municipality

Minister of Water and Sanitation, Nomvula Mokonyane handed over two mobile reservoirs with a storage capacity of 80 000 liters per truck to the community of Praktiseer in Burgersfort.


During the official handover at Segorong Sports Ground in Praktiseer, the Minister said these trucks are a short term intervention that forms part of the integrated drought relieve by the provincial government and the municipalities in the province.

“Plans are in place to spent R1.2 billion on medium to long-term interventions in different parts of the province. Plans include reticulations; building more reservoirs; refurbishment of Waste Water Treatment Plants, borehole drilling; household support to women and child-headed homes; War on Leaks project and Drop-The-Block water saving campaign”.

According to the Minister, government is earnestly responding to people’s challenges and needs to the best of its ability. She urged the community to refrain from burning infrastructure when they are not satisfied with other service delivery.

She added that drought requires people to come up with innovative solutions for saving water, adhering to municipal restrictions as it is for sustainability of the resource, reporting vandalism of infrastructure and disconnect illegal water connections.

Premier Chupu Mathabatha welcomed the mobile reservoirs and did not waste time to warn the community to stop burning infrastructure that is meant to help them.

“Even at home children do not burn a trouser when they need a shirt because after receiving a trouser they will still need the trouser they shall have burned. I urge you to jealously guard against vandalism of this mobile reservoir.”

He concluded by reassuring the community that what the Minister is doing is proof that Government cares for them.

Ms Polinah Kukushe from Praktiseer extention 3 said as a woman she is happy that government has intervened to their water shortage challenge. “I even receive a water wheelbarrow that will help me to carry and store clean water for my family.”
