Limpopo Premier encourages community to work together with police and government to fight criminal activities

On the 15th February 2016, the Premier of Limpopo, Mr Chupu Mathabatha had a meeting with the Police and Dan Village Stakeholders at Vukuzenzele Community Project Hall.


The Premier and the Limpopo police provincial commissioner Lieutenant –Colonel Nneke Ledwaba visited Dan Village after the two people were murdered on Sunday, 12th February 2016.

A group called themselves Boko Haram have been attacking and terrorising communities around Dan, Nkowankowa, Bridgeway and Mokgoloboto Villages. Since 2014, about six people have been attacked with pangas before being shot dead.

The Premier expressed his concern about the depressing situation in Dan Village.”Government will make sure that all those culprits are arrested and put behind bars. The government reached a consensus with the police and community structures to work together to combat crime in all affected areas, “he said.

Community activist and Chairperson of Dan development committee, Mr Nickolas Shingage, told the Commissioner and the Premier that a large number of senior police officers at Ritavi police station are working with these criminals.

Limpopo police spokesperson Lieutenant –Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said people have been arrested in connection with the killings and that more arrest were imminent.

Ngoepe identified those killed on 12th February 2016, as Freedom Sephiwe Numero (23), and Sekomela Fire Nkgapelo (26).Those arrested will be charged with murder.
