Limpopo reaction on Nigeria tragedy

Limpopo Premier Chupu Mathabatha has again reiterated his heartfelt condolences on the aftermath of the Nigerian tragedy were more than 80 South Africans perished when a church collapsed a few weeks ago.


About eight of the many South Africans who are unaccounted for are from Limpopo. Four (4) of those have survived and returned a few days ago and were released to their families, whereas one person is still hospitalized.

The Premier has praised the SANDF, both governments of South Africa and Nigeria for the efforts made during this difficult time.

The Limpopo Department of Social Development has been liaising with the National Departments responsible for making sure all logistics for different people from South Africa are speeded up. The Premier says this is still the most difficult time in our history, and government is trying all it can to make sure our people are accounted for, and receive the necessary support.

Support for families is coordinated through Social development, and they have dispatched their team of social workers, psychologists and all that can help through the Province. The remains of the eight (8) Limpopo citizens, are a coordination of the National government, and an update is constantly made from the Presidency.
